About the Project

As part of my Information Design course last semester, we were assigned to create an informational piece—a poster, booklet, or other format—that visually explains a meal of our choice in a clear and engaging way.
As a proud Rhodopean, I chose to highlight a traditional and much-loved dish from our regional cuisine: Kachamak. It’s a simple, hearty meal that carries a lot of cultural warmth and personal nostalgia, and I wanted my final piece to reflect that coziness and authenticity.
While the project was quite demanding, the research process was incredibly engaging. I dove into the origins, ingredients, preparation methods, and cultural context of the dish, which gave me a deeper appreciation for its place in our heritage.
All of the visuals—illustrations, symbols, and patterns—were created entirely by me. I used Procreate to digitally draw each element, but instead of keeping everything in a clean digital format, I decided to add a more tactile, handmade quality to the final piece. After printing the illustrations, I cut them out, arranged them manually on the pages, and then scanned the compositions. This process gave the booklet a crafted, warm feeling that mirrors the spirit of the meal itself—homemade, comforting, and full of care.
